CoursesThe following programme of courses have been organised jointly with the Manchester Society.
Entry Level Referee Award (ELRA)
This course replaced the National Foundation Certificate in November 2006. It is delivered across the NW by our three regional trainers. Details of all courses nationally can be found on the RFU website. If you are aware of anyone who wants to take up refereeing please direct them to the website or get them to contact Will Halford, the RefDO:North via email at willhalford@rfu.com
Continuous Referee Development Award (CRDA)
This new course has been designed to meet the needs of the majority of Society Referees in
The course has been developed from the Entry Level Referee Award and a numbers of themes and approaches are common. The course may form the springboard to the Development Referee Award. However, it should be stressed that it is not intended that all modules have to be completed before progressing to the Development Referee Award. Equally completion of all of the modules does not mean automatic entry to the Development Referee Award. The Referee Development Managers will be weighing Potential versus Performance in making these decisions.
Evidence from many referees indicates that those who are the most successful at their level are able to reflect on their performance and their learning - this is a major aspect of the course. In order therefore to kick-start this approach a session has been organise early in the season when Match Preparation and Personal Referee Development Planning will be the theme
Course 1: Match Preparation and Personal Referee Development Planning will be the theme Sunday, 9th September, 2007. 10 – 12.30pm
Any member who is interested in taking this course should contact
There are assessments which can be completed via the RFU website and your further details about this approach will be given early in the season.
